Bespoke Accoya orangery in Scarcroft, Leeds.

The brief

We completed this bespoke Accoya orangery for a builder on a residential project in Scarcroft, near Leeds. Rather than supplying only the windows and doors, our brief covered the complete external timber package: two traditional sash windows, a central French door set, the surrounding cladding and the full cornice detail above.

One coordinated joinery package

Producing every visible timber element as one package allowed the proportions, sightlines and moulded details to work together. The sash windows frame the French doors symmetrically, while the pilasters, cladding and layered cornice turn the individual products into a single architectural elevation.

The completed orangery sits naturally against the Yorkshire stone property. Its restrained painted finish keeps the emphasis on the balanced arrangement of the openings and the depth of the cornice rather than making the new work feel separate from the house.

Traditional sash windows and French doors

The two timber sash windows bring a traditional vertical proportion to either side of the opening. Between them, the bespoke timber French door set creates a generous route from the orangery to the terrace and garden. Making the windows and doors together keeps their frame profiles and overall visual rhythm consistent.

Cladding and detailed cornice

The cladding and cornice are a major part of the finished result. The deep fascia, stepped mouldings and vertical corner details give the elevation its scale and character, while also tying the windows and doors into the wider structure. It is a good example of the extra scope we can take on when a builder needs a coordinated timber package rather than separate products from several suppliers.
